ILS is an opportunity for thousands of devotees, either currently or potentially involved in ISKCON’s leadership, to come together in order to share plans and aspirations for tomorrow’s ISKCON, learn new skills to improve ISKCON globally and locally and enliven one another by transformational Vaishnava exchanges like hearing and chanting in the association of the most senior members of Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON.
This year’s ISKCON Leadership Sanga continues to focus on preparing ISKCON’s leaders for the future. Time is marching on and leadership is continuing to shift from one generation to another. The wisdom of our previous acaryas and leaders needs to be preserved, while the ever-changing landscape of this planet demands new and future-forward visionaries to continue filling in the framework so carefully constructed by our predecessors.
The ability to distill the underlying truths upon which the success of our Society depends and yet keeping a cutting-edge awareness of what will inspire others to take up the process of Krishna consciousness was an essential part of Srila Prabhupada’s success. Compassion, equal vision, determination and a healthy sense of urgency inspired him, and others, to push forward despite opposition, endless problems, and the forward march of Kali-yuga’s anomalies.
But the mission is just beginning. There is so much to do and we are tasked with doing it. Come to the ISKCON Leadership Sanga and be counted among those who are willing to sacrifice to lead ISKCON into the future.
More than 70 speakers will share experiences and new insights by exploring various relevant themes such as:
- What are the foundational principles which should form the bedrock of our institution?
- How will we govern, protect and guide our Society as it continues to grow exponentially?
- How can we meld traditional values and sacred concepts from our sastras with the need to remain relevant to the ever-changing society we live in?
- The new leaders of our movement will come from various walks of life, and multiple global cultures. How will we synthesize a cohesive and effective way forward?
- The need to read and understand the intention behind Srila Prabhupada’s direction is becoming more and more critical. How will we assure that the objectives and intentions Srila Prabhupada enunciated in his books is preserved into the future?
- How can we build a society that has healthy guru, social and organizational interactions?
- Our ISKCON is quickly moving from a “temple based” model to one in which devotees are living and working outside. How will future members become firmly grounded in Srila Prabhupada’s teachings and able to inspire others to do the same? How will our temples remain vibrant and our Deities be properly cared for?
The ILS is a dynamic and unique opportunity to put our heads and hearts together and collaborate to build a common understanding and forge a way forward. It gives all participants a chance to broaden their understanding of the global landscape of ISKCON and look at things from a variety of perspectives. We can get to know each other and develop love and trust by synergy; hearing and chanting together in Sri Dham Mayapur. In this way the global impact of Lord Caitanya’s mission can expand unlimitedly.
Srila Prabhupada said in a letter written in 1970;
“Now all my disciples must work combinedly and with cooperation to spread this Sankirtana Movement. If you cannot work together then my work is stopped up. Our Society is like one big family and our relationships should be based on love and trust. We must give up the fighting spirit and use our intelligence to push ahead….”
So please be part of this great effort. Come and help us make the ISKCON Leadership Sanga 2020 a grand success. The fee is nominal, the discounted rate is only $139 US for early registration. In mid-November the cost will be $149 and at the door $159.00. So, register quickly but in all cases the reward is great: Rooming of 7 days in Sri Dham Mayapur, wonderful full-day prasadam, over 60 different seminars and discussions, association and dialogue with many wonderful devotees, and the priceless darshan of Sri Sri Panchattava, Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Their Sakhis, and Lord Nrsimadeva.

Hare Krishna.
I’m very interested.
At the same time, I would like to know who is structuring and facilitating this, and what the follow-up might be.
I know there are many with very valuable contributions to make, who do not have faith in the present leaders, and I think there are many valid reasons for concern.
Unless there is a satvic, trustworthy structure in place by which disagreements or conflicts can be heard, and resolved, and assurance that important issues will be considered and adjusted for, as a conclusion (leading to appropriate action), I’m wondering if this can become a genuine forum for improvement.
I want to have my/such doubts cleared. However, I have seen too many instances of sincere devotees struggling with very real and valid complaints, or making Prabhupada-based proposals, and either not being heard, or rejected out of hand, or “demomized”, because of having perceptions different from the mainstream or status quo.
I hope you can convince me that this will be anything much more than a confirmation of continuing as we have been, because, in principle, I am inspired by your enthusiasm (whoever you are), and would like to support you and be part of it.
Hare Krishna.
Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada,
Atmananda dasa (ACBSP)
